Kiany, Klumars (2023) Creating a Metahuman of myself using Unreal Engine 5 Metahuman Creator: report + artifact. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

For my project I wanted to focus on a new addition to the Unreal Engine 5 family called metahuman creator. This online software would allow me to use a photogrammetry scan of myself to aid me to create a lifelike metahuman of myself. I wanted to go through the whole process from start to finish and to be able to produce a fully functional 3rd person character in Unreal Engine 5 that was a replica of myself.

In this report I have detailed my experience, looking at each stage in detail. From the in initial photogrammetry scan, to the process of uploading the photogrammetry scan, to creating the different facial features, to then going through the step-by-step process of adding my metahuman to the standard 3rd person character mannequin in Unreal Engine 5. My aim by the end of this report / Module is to be able to have a greater understanding of the new software launched by Unreal Engine 5.
