Johnson, Sophie (2023) The effects of child poverty on educational attainment: a review of different European political systems. (unpublished BA dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
This dissertation will explore the ways child poverty effects educational attainment whilst reviewing levels of education inequality in different European countries. During this comparison, the effect of a country's politcal system and ideology on educational inequality levels will be analysed. Policy initiatives to reduce education inequality and how they have been adopted within the countries will also be compared and analysed. Through this investigation it can be concluded that child poverty can have a profound impact on educational attainment. Moreover, a country's political system and ideology can reduce the effect poverty has on education inequality. This conclusion was reached through the analysis of relevant literature and by collecting and comparing education inequality data from countries with differing politcal systems and ideology.
