Lucas, Olaitan Oviavoh (2023) The impact of intercultural communication on employee performance in the telecommunications industry in Nigeria. (unpublished MA dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
This research examines the impact of intercultural communication on employee performance in the telecommunications industry in Nigeria. It looks at the importance of effective intercultural communication in various work settings, which has increased in the rapidly evolving global corporate environment of today, marked by increased interconnection and international cooperation.
A descriptive research design is used in this study, as is the adoption of a quantitative method of data collection. A questionnaire focusing on demographic variables, employee performance, intercultural communication, and work engagement was administered to the participants. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, frequency count, Pearson product moment correlation, and regression analysis at 0.05 level of significance, and three hypotheses were tested.
According to the results of hypothesis one, intercultural communication and employee performance are positively correlated. The report from the finding in this study advised Nigerian telecommunications companies to consider investing staff training programmes on cultural sensitivity.
