Horka, Magdalena (2024) Distinctive elements of Waldorf education practices and their respective effects on learning and teaching. (unpublished BA dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth

Abstract

The Waldorf approach is one of the world’s fastest-growing alternative educational movements, yet its conceptual frameworks and principles were formulated over a century ago. Although they have been slightly adjusted to fit today's age, they continue to shape the Waldorf curriculum. Despite the apparent popularity of Waldorf education, there is a lack of in-depth empirical research that explores this approach. Consequently, this project aims to discuss and evaluate Waldorf’s distinctive features and explore whether and how they resonate with the most recent findings of cognitive science, neuroscience, and psychology that drive ongoing educational research. Throughout the chapters, it also intends to emphasize the role of creativity in today's world and within the context of Waldorf features.
