Heath, Kai (2024) Leaky tap sessions: an autoethnographic exploration of creative contraints in record production. (unpublished BA dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
In this article, the author undertakes a practice led, process oriented approach to record production, employing the use of creativity constraints in the making of a 6 song EP. Autoethnography is used as a means to explore the subjective and nuanced nature of the topic, tackling deeply personal experiences through a daily devotional practice of journaling and introspection alongside the gruelling recording process. The qualitative data gathered through this process was then used in a thematic analysis. Emergent themes are reflected upon and tied back current research in the field of creativity as well as broader cultural phenome and autoethnography as a methodology.
