Brown, Jacob (2024) War in games and what makes an anti-war game. (unpublished BSc dissertation), University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth
Abstract
This study looks at how war is portrayed in video games and how anti-war games are made.War is one of the most profitable industries in games, however it has become a work of fiction with the real struggles of all involved replaced with ‘heroes’ taking on entire armies while committing war crimes all the while with no repercussions. Through the analysis of academic literature and pre-existing anti-war games, there is an understanding of what is needed to make an anti-war game.
