Access to EndNote X6 will end in August 2024. If you are using or have stored information in EndNote X6, please migrate it to another referencing management platform, such as EndNote Web, before the end of August.
How to merge your EndNote X6 references with EndNote Web
The University of Portsmouth are switching off access to EndNote X6 (accessed via AppsAnywhere) from August 2024. You will need to create an EndNote Web account and move all saved references over before 31st July 2024. The following instructions walk you through this process. Click or tap on any image below to enlarge it.
- If you do not already have an EndNote Web account follow these instructions to set one up.
- Go to your EndNote X6 account. Go to ‘File’ and ‘Export’.
- On the pop up box go to ‘output style’ and then click on ‘select another style’.
- Click on ‘RefMan (RSS) Export’ from the drop down list and then ‘choose’.
- Save your EndNote X6 Library. Make a note of where you have saved it to.
- Go to EndNote Web and login.
- On EndNote Web go to ‘Collect’ then ‘Import References’.
- Choose your file to import, then for import option choose ‘RefMan RIS’ and choose which folder you want to save into. Click 'Import'.
- Your references will be imported.
Helpful hint - preserving EndNote folder structures
If your references are arranged into folders in EndNote X6, go in to Endnote web before starting the merger and recreate your folders, then merge each folder one at a time into the corresponding new folder.
