University Library opening hours
Face masks are no longer mandatory in the Library. We understand that some students and staff will wish to continue to wear a face covering and we support those personal decisions. Please be respectful of staff and students who continue to wear a mask.
Scan in via the turnstiles with your university card to register your attendance whenever the Library is open. If you do not have your university card, you can obtain a temporary pass.
Please note:
- the Library Coffee Shop operates different opening hours listed on the Catering Services web page. Do not assume the coffee shop is open whenever the Library is.
- When staff are not available, you can still contact us via our online chat services.
- Opening Hours are subject to change at short notice in response to local or national Government restrictions.

Service Restrictions During the Christmas Vacation Period
- From Saturday 21st December 2024 until Thursday 2nd January 2025 our Online Chat Service will be staffed by our out-of-hours librarians who are located around the world. They are highly skilled and will be able to answer most enquiries or will refer your query onto UoP Library staff who will reply on or after the 2nd January 2025.
- Any emails received after 4pm on Friday 20th December 2024 will also be answered on or after 2nd January 2025.

Over the Christmas period reservations will only be satisfied if the item is available on the shelf. This will apply from 13th December 2024 to 10th January 2025.

If a request is made via Click & Collect, Document Delivery or the Postal Loans Service between 20th December 2024 and 2nd January 2025 then the earliest the item will be available for collection or despatch will be 3rd January 2025.
